Ava Sennetta-Brown GreenAva Sennetta-Brown Green was born in Fernandina Beach, Florida and nurtured in neighboring Yulee.  She is the youngest child of William Arthur Brown, Jr.  and Rubye Mae Terry Brown.   She credits her parents and experiences at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for instilling her with Christian values and a zeal for Christ.

She was educated in the public schools of Nassau County, Florida and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School.  She earned a bachelor’s of arts in Communication from the University of South Florida, a master’s of science in Education Leadership and a doctorate of education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Green’s professional career has been devoted to teaching and learning.  For the past 20 years, she has worked at various levels of education, including elementary, secondary, and higher education as a teacher, curriculum coach and program coordinator in Florida public schools and at Valencia Community College.   Presently, she is an assistant principal at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida.  Dr. Green is a passionate advocate for youth and young adult engagement and retention in the Church and high school.

Dr. Green has served as the Episcopal Supervisor of the Fifteenth Episcopal District which is comprised of Angola, Namibia, and South Africa. While serving this district, she was honored to be robed by the Women’s Missionary Society and named Masechaba, “Mother of the Nation.”  During her time there, she pursued her interest in young people by providing students with resources, supplies, and uniforms to attend school in the local areas, and empowering young people to participate in the connectional church.

While a freshman at USF she met her life partner, Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr, the 125th elected and consecrated bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. They are the proud parents of three sons, Samuel Lawrence, Jr., Adam Scott, and Stephen Avare.

Dr. Green is now the Supervisor of the Twelfth Episcopal District and is looking forward to toiling in the vineyard and the witnessing the fruits of our labor.
